Beelitz & Prora

The "Beelitz Heilstätten" - originally built in the late 19th century - are located near Berlin and had been the main hospital for the Red Army Forces and the political SED nomenclatura in the former GDR.

The sea-bath Prora, a.k.a. the "Colossus of Ruegen", is a relict from the Nazi time, located directly on the beach of the German island Rügen facing the Baltic Sea. The central sections of the 4.5 km long building complex are partly in use (museum, information center, youth hostel) whereas the terminal edifices (blocks 4 to the north and south) are abandoned.
